 So I found this little guy when I came back from my daily Starbuck's run. It looked like a big black ant with wings and was about an inch long. It was just crawling along on my desk and I was more curious than anything so I decided to take a picture. It kept coming out blurred coz it wouldn't keep still.
I told at least 3 people about it and the consensus was pretty much "squish it now NOW" XD It wasn't doing me any harm so I let it be. The only bug I kill on sight is cockroaches :E I also tend to leave black ants alone, but red ants sting like the devil so those I do kill straight away.
Googled and found a bug guide with some pictures. They're not exactly the same but the legs and body do match. The tips of its legs are reddish. Not for the first time, I thought an Eden of the East site would have been handy right about now :)
So then I wanted to take a picture with other stuff around it for size comparison and as I was doing so, my mp4 player (which has a camera at the back) fell on top of the poor thing.
At first I thought I'd squished it to death since the player was damn right heavy. It was squirming around and I almost did a mercy killing but not before I got my size comparison shots XD (it was finally still enough to take one, except my hands aren't :/). Eventually, it recovered but I still felt bad coz it was favoring it's right hind leg and its wings were kinda askew. But it seemed to be none the worse for wear and started cleaning itself again.
I decided to share a drop of my mocha to see if it would like the sugar high. It did occur to me that it might explode on too much chocolate/caffeine despite it being decaf. But it seemed to like it well enough. It looks kinda drunk though, since it's head started drooping. I dunno, it's still in front of me now cleaning its legs. Every now and then it would return to the drop of mocha XD
ETA: It's crawled away somewhere so I've lost track of it. Last time I saw it, it was moving in a rather jittery way so I think the decaffeine did affect it ><;;

Earth Hour starts in less than 7 hours. I'm glad there's more coverage and participation for it here this year. The WWF and whoever else is responsible for this are doing a good job promoting. I hear the whole of Roxas Blvd will have its lights turned off, and some leading establishments like all the SM malls and Starbucks will also turn their lights off. I kinda wish I were going tonight just to see how the mall and stores look like. But, don't really want to go out.
For those participating in the Earth Hour, what are your plans for that time? I don't really know what to do myself. Somehow having the computer or tv on seems like a cheat even if all that's being asked for is to have the lights off. I feel like I should remove myself from any gadget at my disposal, even my ebook reader and mp3 player. But then, what do I do? Suggestions are more than welcome. Or if not, would love to hear how you'll be spending your Earth Hour.
Well, just popped online to post this and check my mail. Will try to log back online later.

Ok. This is insane. Not only do I not have time to watch my tv shows, I also need to watch my movies collection so I know which ones to keep and which ones to consign to oblivion.
So, here's the deal:
- going through the movies as soon as the season ends
- if one of two shows I'm following takes the week off, I will replace it with one movie
- will not be watching tv backlog until I clear off some movies or I clean up my room
- only exception to this is Eureka, and maybe Guardian XD

Have cut down immensely on the tv watching so that only two (now three) are left. Too much backlog in all the others and saving on hard disk space so not resuming most of them til their respective seasons end.
The Mentalist 1x16 - Bloodshot
Well, this certainly came back with a bang, literally. They sure upped the game as this is the most fast-paced and exciting episode to date. Have wondered what it would be like should one of Jane's former cons ever came back to bite him in the ass. Of course, Jane's a cranky patient.
Lisbon: Guess what? He's a bad patient.
Jane: I'm not a bad patient. She's a bad visitor. OMG, how could they hurt my baby Rigsby! No hurting of the Rigsby T_T Though the ensuing hurt/comfort hug scene with Van Pelt was a plus. Damn janitor and his bad timing! XD

Incidentally, big hunk of a guy Owain Yeoman (Rigsby) has an amazingly beautiful beautiful Welsh accent. Hard to believe that someone who has the square jaws suited for a Terminator (Chromartie) could be so sweet and soft-spoken had I not stumbled upon this lovely interview on youtube.
House 5x18 - Here Kitty
Kitty in question is a gorgeous Russian blue (least I think it is, I'm no expert, it could be a Korat) named Debbie! I kid you not. Check out the screencap below. Odd name for a cat but still a huge improvement over Wilson's hired prostitute.

It's no secret that I love dogs and would like almost every breed imaginable. But when it comes to cats, all I want is a Russian blue. It has such a beautiful and unique slate gray coat that I just can't help but want one.

Castle 1x02 - Nanny McDead
Not much to say on this. Certainly not as fast paced as the pilot, which I expected. Mom and daughter both as precious as ever. Sexual tension between the leads has also been downplayed. If there was ever any doubt that Nathan could play the part of a brilliant mystery writer, the scene in this episode where he all but purrs as he spins his tale certainly proves otherwise. My favorite quote would have to be the part where Castle was trying to get Kate to play poker with his mystery writer buddies. Kate declined due to the high stakes NY bestsellers are likely to bet with.
Castle: We can always make it strip poker.
Kate: Sorry but I prefer mystery to horror. As someone who lives and breathes crime novels, best part about this episode was the chain of suspects that led from one to the other and kept me guessing til the end. The mellowing down was to be expected and in this case very much welcome. I really hope they keep up the good writing.

I can't believe this. Another gifted asshole who has charm in spades. Seriously, I can't wait for this formulae to get old for me. And I hate people like this in real life.
So, checked out Nathan Fillion's new series Castle, about a crime novelist who finds his murder scenes being copied in real life, least that's how the premise for the pilot episode goes.
UGO: Any signifigance to your character’s name and the show’s namesake Castle?
Fillion: Yes. The fellow who created the show, Andrew Marlowe says if you say "Rick Castle" really fast it kinda sounds like you’re saying "Rick Assh#le." And that’s kind of who he is.

Absolutely loved every minute of it! My only complaints are how they can keep up the kind of pacing they showed in the pilot and how they can keep the story going now that the copycat murder has been solved. Coz really, a whole season trying to catch a killer who copies the murder scenes in your book? Not a good idea. Glad they dispensed with that. Also concerned with the chemistry of the two main characters. There's just too much of it! I mean at the rate they're going they'd be sleeping together in no time. Which is never a good idea since that's one sure way to ruin a good series.
Other than that, it is an excellent new series all around and has been promptly added to the roster of shows I look forward to each week! What I love best about this, apart from the ever-charming Nathan Fillion, is that the main character is surrounded by women, but not in the way that you think. Apart from the lead detective, he has an irrepressible and incorrigible mother and a pretty grounded teenage daughter, both of whose presence are a refreshing change to the typical crime drama team of 4-5 detectives working a case. Definitely not the usual fare. Here's hoping the production team can keep up the good work and that this doesn't get cancelled.
TV Guide: Nathan, how will this be different from the other roles you've played?
Fillion: The pants. Other pants are tighter... looser... these ones are just right. It's kinda like Goldilocks with the three oatmeals. Too hot, too cold... Richard Castle...

And I was so busy fangirling over this and the last two episodes of House over the weekend that I totally forgot to watch The Guardian! and Leverage XD

Huzzah! Internet at home!!! It claims to be 460.8 Kbps but is actually slow as molasses. Though this could be due to the fact that Norton LiveUpdate (had to set ftp and http to no proxy) is running for the first time and hogging all the bandwidth. Now that I look at it those look like pretty big chunks of data getting downloaded there.
And I was just planning to re-format too >< Hope I remember what I did to make this work. Seems that connecting through the Nokia PC Suite's doesn't work but using the cellphone directly as a modem does. Proxies didn't work, direct connection to the internet did (for Firefox). Nothing checked for IE Options.
Cors I have no internet or download software on this computer since I never had net at home and therefore had no need for them here. Heck even this firefox is not updated. Will probably stay online til all the liveupdates finish. Wasn't there a way to download this and update offline? I don't even know if my Norton is licensed or just trial. Blah, should stop wasting bandwidth for now. Got pidgin to work at Use Environmental Settings. I'm getting to my third 5 peso per 15 minutes here so logging off before I run out of load XD

FYI, my (work) laptop hdd died. Couldn't recover any files, it had this ticking noise already. IT guy has called supplier for a replacement but not sure when it'll get here. It's SATA and IT guy didn't have a spare SATA drive, only IDE.
I'm relatively okay with it coz I have most of my files (downloads) stored elsewhere all the time anyway. It's just the work stuff that are important which I never backed up. Ah well, no use crying over spilt water milk.
Using my old desktop which luckily has not been formatted. Unfortunately this damn thing power cycles so I'm on a merry go round every few minutes. It seems to have stabilized now but you never really know with this thing. Could just be lulling me into complacency. In any case, limited movement and all so yeah.
Just an FYI so you know why I'd appear and disappear a lot online.

 Listing these down mostly for my reference so I know when to expect episodes.
Picture has nothing to do with this post. Just found it pretty and nostalgic when I was looking through the CBS site. This showed up in their Weekly Top 5 Vintage Shows banner, whose video content is only available to the U.S. Too bad, they had Beauty and the Beast in there too.
