puppy on a bike [23 Jun 2008|07:50pm]
[ mood | random ]

You know how tricycle drivers sometimes have their babies along for the ride? This morning I was on a tricycle where the guy had an adorable wittle puppy riding with him.

I was actually worried it might fall off, it kept moving around and looked like it wanted to get off, but the driver was pretty good at taking care of it so it didn't slip out of his lap. Totally made my day :3

HP TouchSmart IQ506 PC [18 Jun 2008|03:34am]
Good Christ Almighty! o_O

I'd post pictures but the flash link above does a better job of showing this absurdly sleek contraption that's a Mac (screen), PC (Vista OS with TouchScreen software?), and Entertainment (remote control, tv tuner) system all in one. Note: The flash page takes some time to load.

Where's the CPU? It's flat on the back of the monitor. Yes, there's a dvd drive, card reader, and ports crammed into that flat space. The speakers are at the bottom of the monitor. It has a wireless keyboard (which can slide under the monitor) and mouse. And there's only ONE cable for all of this - the power cable.

new shows to watch out for [15 May 2008|10:09pm]
[info]fallpreview just came out with a list of new shows for the major networks for the coming fall season.

Biggest buzz I heard of was the new Joss Whedon entitled Doll House. Premise is interesting enough, but not fond of the actors involved so not very excited about this. Also have a feeling this will spiral into one of those conspiracy shows in a bad way. Or maybe I just don't wanna invest on another show that may easily get axed. And this sounds like a series that needs to be done for the long haul to do it justice.

CBS on the other hand, has some new shows that interest me, particularly the Eleventh Hour with Rufus Sewell and the sitcom Project Gary with Jay Mohr and two children - Louise, a politically correct and environmentally conscious 11-year-old, and Tom, their socially awkward 14-year-old son who is nervous around girls. Definitely checking this out for the kids :)

shows old and new [13 May 2008|11:44pm]
[ mood | busy ]

As the U.S. tv shows reach their finale this season, news is out on what shows networks will renew and cancel.

Life was thankfully confirmed for a new season a while back. Sadly, this is not the case with Journeyman. While I'm ok with how things ended there, I would have liked to see another season of such an excellent series.

Reaper and Samantha Who? will be renewed. Yey! Women's Murder Club won't. Boo~ And I thought I heard news of it surviving earlier, too :/ Got into this when I caught it on local tv and it was pretty good. I wonder if they wrapped up the "Kiss Me Not" serial killer arc or not.

Oh, looks like the new Knight Rider is good to go next season.

Moonlight is canceled. The real wonder is how it survived this long. Guess CBS is a lot more forgiving than FOX. More's the pity. New Amsterdam has also been canceled at only 8 episodes. Also not a surprise but it was an ok enough series and would have liked to have seen more. It reminded me too much of Highlander though.

And now for some old news. Saw an episode of Dresden Files and very much enjoyed it, only to find out later that it lasted a mere 12 episodes. Oddly enough, was able to check out ReGenesis when Studio 23 switched to MAXX last Sunday at midnight. Was interested in this but never had a chance to watch til now. I like what I've seen of it so far.

Was also reading an article on when Eureka comes back (this July) and mention of Charlie Jade caught my attention. Very intrigued by the whole premise. "What if humans didn't abuse the earth and its resources? How different would the world be? Take a fantastic leap of the imagination and explore the world through three parallel universes - Alphaverse (what our world could end up being), Betaverse (our world today), and Gammaverse (what our world could have been)." Sadly another canceled show that lasted 20 episodes.

things to do before you're 30 [05 May 2008|09:45pm]
On my way to work I was thinking of various things and music and recommending some to my friends and such when I thought, Fuck this, I'm getting an iPod for my birthday.

I'd be done paying for my computer by then and can start on a new installment purchase. Should come to less than 2k a month for 12 months which is tons lighter than what I've been dishing out for the comp.

Had a bunch of other things in mind and was gonna make a list, but don't really have much time to do anything realistically at this point so this and getting my ass in Enchanted Kingdom damnit will have to do. It's just insane that I've never been considering I love roller coasters so much :E

nestle cream commercial (not for the faint of heart) [26 Mar 2008|08:10pm]
Is anyone else creeped out by this Nestle Cream commercial?

My mom usually doesn't get the new commercials these days. So when this came on, she was like, I don't get that and made me watch when it came on. When the end hit, I got goosebumps all over and practically screamed at my mom, "That's CREEPY!" She still didn't get it so I had to explain, repeating over and over how creepy it was.

Being the scaredy cat that I am when it comes to these things, the damn thing makes my skin crawl every time I see it. I'm pretty sure my friends would love this *shudder*

movies [12 Mar 2008|11:19pm]
[ music | Ishikawa Chiaki - 1/2 ]

Was supposed to watch a movie in the theaters this weekend with the 3 M's but can't since I've gone out 3 weekends in a row and folks are complaining.

Anyways, I checked out what was currently showing to see what they might want to watch. So I told achan, are you guys watching Meet The Spartans XD Sure enough, em replies to my txt and goes "Meet The Spartans sana..." LOL

But I wanna watch it now that I've seen the cast. Normally I don't care for spoof movies but this one has Sean Maguire and Kevin Sorbo ^^; Don't think I wanna spend for such a movie tho, so will likely catch this when the dvd comes out.

While looking around clickthecity, saw this cool wuxia pic for a movie called Superfighters. Had to do a bit of digging before I could figure out that this was actually Shadowless Sword. May have a copy, will have to check it out when I get home.

Oh, another movie that recently caught my eye, The Accidental Husband. Colin Firth and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in a movie? Count me in XD And I was just telling Bhex the other day that I missed JDM, also did Colin Firth marathon the other weekend so the Colin fangirl has been recently reawakened XD

what I don't blog about [12 Mar 2008|01:39am]
[ music | GLAY - 100mankainoKISS ]

Is it me or does this sound suspiciously like a way to write a better blog by writing what your readers want to read? You know I thought I was a curious person but apparently not enough to harass my friends for it :/ So lame.

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll respond via comments. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on fannish stuff, favorite type of underwear, the less touched-upon aspects of my life, etc. And then, repost this on your journal so that I can start asking too. XD

This should be easy seeing as I don't blog much at all XD Though I'm curious to see what people come up with :p

Reason #89127 why the Philippines sucks [07 Mar 2008|03:47am]
[ mood | fangs bared ]
[ music | Bo Bice - Nothing Without You ]

A recent trip on someone's profile page reminded me of therainforestsite and others like it. They now have an online store that supposedly donates funds with the profit of the merchandise they sell, some of which are free trade, organic, naturally sourced, or cruelty-free.

I've never been a fan of credit cards and haven't really felt the need to get one until I saw this site. I mean you can even donate stuff to causes in their "Gifts that Give More" like school shoes for girls in rural Africa. The best part (or so I thought)? They ship internationally.

So I sign up to proudly proclaim my treehugger-ness with their signup-and-get-free-bracelets promo. I get to the dropdown list of countries to ship to and guess what, the Philippines is not listed. So I wrote their customer service and this is the reply I got...

Thank you for writing. We no longer accept credit card orders from the Philippines. This is due to a number of fraudulent orders, sourced in the Philippines, that cost us a great deal of money. We've been forced to drop a few different countries due to extensive credit card fraud. I'm very sorry.

We review the countries we ship to on a yearly basis. Hopefully, the Philippines will return to the list of nations we serve later in the year.
Ain't that just lovely?

Much as I was itching to rant about it, I tried not to hold it too much against them or us and moved on to more useful pursuits like browsing for other ways to help the environment. I came across this article that promoted FreeCycle. How proud was I when I saw that the Philippines had their own group with over 600 members in Manila. So I joined the yahoo group.

My membership got approved today and now I wish it hadn't. Looking over past entries, I couldn't help but think the concept is pretty much lost on it's members. Granted, some of them meant well, but really overall there were about 10 posts over the past year that actually OFFERED anything. Most of them were ASKING for handouts. And they don't even follow the subject format outlined in the community rules that get sent to members as they join.

So yeah, here I am ranting about both coz I just couldn't keep quiet any more since I'm so pissed. Nothing short of a rant could break my silence on this journal it seems. And I was supposed to post about my reawakened need to be actively involved in a cause near and dear to my heart. This country seriously disgusts me sometimes.
